This booklet was part of Chinese Architecture and Settlement course with Prof. Chen Yu. I was tasked to document and retrace the development of a shophouses block in Craig Road, through site visits, photos, public archives and historical records.
Shophouses conservation is an important part of Singapore’s urban morphology strategies. Urban Redevelopment Authority have provided guidelines for the upkeep of shophouse facades in historical areas. However through the this study, I argued for a redefinition of typologies in Craig Road, as many of the shophouses are build between transitions.
